Abdoulaye Dieng Sarr, PharmD, Dsc.
Dr. Abdoulaye Dieng Sarr is a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard School of PublicHealth. A native of Senegal, Dr. Dieng Sarr studied as a Fogarty Fellow at Harvard from 1994-1999. Dr. Dieng Sarr's current research is the characterization of HIV-1 and HIV-2 primary and early infection in heterosexually infected individuals. This research includes designing and implementing plans to investigate HIV viral dynamics, genetic variation, evolution, host immune response and their impact on HIV pathogenesis and vaccine development. He has conducted original research on developing micro methods for HIV Cell Mediated Immunity assays by Elispot and on generating HIV-1 and HIV-2 fusion proteins using the genetically detoxified Anthrax Lethal Factor to stimulate and quantify CTL by Elispot assay. Dr. Dieng Sarr has also served as the Coordinator of the National HIV/STD Sentinel Surveillance Program from 1989 - 1994 in Senegal, a nationwide program devised and funded by the WHO.
Dr. Dieng Sarr has served as a lecturer in Pharmacology and Microbiology at the National Nursing School and the School of Hygiene and Public Health in Dakar, Senegal. Dr. Dieng Sarr also serves as a Scientific Adviser for the AIDS Prevention Initiative in Nigeria (APIN). This is a collaborative program that oversees training, capacity building, research and policy efforts at the state level to develop evidence-based prevention programs in Nigeria. Dr. Dieng Sarr holds a doctorate of pharmacy from Université Cheikh Anta Diop, Dakar, Senegal and a Doctorate of Science from the Harvard School of Public Health. He also holds post-graduate certificates in clinical microbiology and biochemistry from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar. Dr Dieng Sarr has been an author or co-author of over 15 scientific journal publications. |
