This forum highlighted the challenges facing women living with HIV and AIDS and those who care for them. A panel of physicians, researchers, and international AIDS advocates addressed biomedical, treatment, and prevention issues, with attention to the epidemic's severe impact on women living in the United States and in developing countries. Audience participation and discussion was emphasized.

Richard G. Marlink, Executive Director of HAI and Mpule Kwelagobe, Miss Universe® 1999, from Gabarone, Botswana, hosted the forum. Speakers included Elaine Daniels, Senior Medical Director, Virology and Community Relations, DuPont Pharmaceutical Company; Lisa Hirschhorn, director, HIV Medical Care and Research, Dimock Community Health Center; Valerie Stone, Director of the Hope Center for HIV Care and Associate Professor of Medicine, Brown University School of Medicine; and Karen McManus, Director of the Women of Color AIDS Council.
