The International Symposium on HIV, Leukemia, and Opportunistic Cancers was held in Marrakech, Morocco, May 23 through May 28, 1999, and was the twentieth symposium of the International Association for Comparative Research on Leukemia and Related Diseases (IACRLRD). From its inception, the IACRLRD has stressed the importance of comparative studies in humans and animals, with particular emphasis on retroviral diseases. Its symposium series has been the principal forum for the exchange of research information on leukemia and retroviral disease and a major opportunity for researchers to share current developments in the understanding of HIV and AIDS. The symposium was sponsored by IACRLRD and HAI, and cosponsored by the Leukemia Society of America, the International AIDS Society, and the Pasteur Institute of Morocco.
The symposium organizers are pleased to announce that His Majesty, the late King Hassan II of Morocco granted his high patronage to this meeting.
